Account deletion and 24-hour grace

How to delete your FreelancerFlow account, the 24-hour grace period, and how to cancel a deletion you started by mistake.

You can delete your FreelancerFlow account at any time from inside the app. Deletion is permanent — but there's a 24-hour grace window during which you can cancel and reverse the process.

Goal: by the end of this you'll know how to request deletion, what gets deleted, and how to cancel before the deadline.

Before you delete

Deletion removes:

  • Your account on FreelancerFlow's servers.
  • Every client, project, task, quote, invoice and payment record stored in the cloud.
  • Your subscription record (the cancellation itself goes through Apple — see below).

It does NOT:

  • Delete data on other devices that haven't synced yet. Those devices will report the account as gone the next time they reach the server.
  • Cancel your Apple subscription automatically. If you don't want to be charged again, cancel through iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions before deleting.

If you want a copy of your data before deleting, export it first: Settings → Data → Export all data writes a JSON backup you can save to Files or email to yourself.

Step 1: Open the deletion flow

In the app:

  1. Tap the gear icon in the dashboard's top right.
  2. Tap Profile at the top of Settings.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.

Or you can request deletion from the public web page: www.freelancerflowai.com/account-deletion.

Step 2: Confirm

A confirmation screen explains what's about to happen. Tap Confirm deletion. The server records the request and starts a 24-hour countdown.

Step 3: (Optional) Get the cancel email

After confirmation the server emails the address on your account with a cancel deletion link. The link stays valid for the full 24-hour grace window. Save the email — it's the easiest path to cancel.

Step 4: Wait — or cancel

For the next 24 hours:

  • You're still signed in. You can use the app normally. Nothing is destroyed yet.
  • The cancel link in your email reverts everything if you tap it.

After 24 hours:

  • A background job permanently deletes the account, the auth user, and every database row tied to your user_id.
  • All devices signed in with that account are signed out.
  • The deletion can no longer be undone.

Cancelling a pending deletion

Three ways, any time before the 24-hour mark expires:

Cancellation is immediate. The countdown stops, the deletion is removed from the queue, and your account is back to normal.

What if I miss the 24 hours?

Once the deletion processes, the account is gone. We do not keep a "soft deleted" copy you can revive. If you want to use FreelancerFlow again, sign up with a fresh email — it'll be a brand-new account with no data.

Cancelling your Apple subscription

If you cancel only the FreelancerFlow account but leave your Apple subscription active, Apple may still charge you. To stop renewals:

  1. Open iOS Settings.
  2. Tap your name at the top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Find FreelancerFlow.
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription.

You can do this before or after the FreelancerFlow account deletion.

Troubleshooting

  • Cancel link 404s. The grace period has expired — the account is already gone.
  • Confirm button disabled. A deletion is already pending. Look for the Cancel deletion row in Settings → Profile.
  • Got two confirmation emails. Apple-side bug; only one delete request exists on the server. The 24-hour window is the same regardless of how many emails landed.
  • Want to delete only my data, not the account. Not supported in V1. Workaround: use Export, then delete the account. Sign up again and import the backup.
