Coverage is the Money tab's headline KPI for collection health. It answers one question: of every euro you've billed in this period, how many euros actually landed?
The formula
Coverage = Earned / Invoiced × 100 (capped at 100%)
Where:
- Earned — sum of every payment recorded against your invoices in the selected period, in your primary currency.
- Invoiced — sum of the
total_amounton every issued, non-cancelled, non-draft invoice in the selected period, in your primary currency.
The percentage is rounded to the nearest whole number and hard-capped at 100%. Coverage cannot read above 100% — once collections equal what you've billed, the card shows 100% and that's the ceiling.
The colour thresholds
| Range | Colour | Read |
|---|---|---|
| 80–100% | Green | Healthy. You're collecting what you bill. |
| 50–79% | Orange | Watch list. Pipeline is healthy, collection is starting to lag. |
| Below 50% | Red | You're sending invoices faster than you're collecting. Something is broken. |
The thresholds are the same for every period.
A worked example
Imagine This month:
- Earned: 7,000 EUR (one client paid 5,000, another paid 2,000).
- Invoiced: 10,000 EUR (the same two invoices for 5,000 and 2,000, plus one new invoice issued this month for 3,000 that hasn't been paid yet).
Coverage = 7,000 / 10,000 × 100 = 70%.
That's orange — there's a 3,000 EUR invoice in this month's pipeline you haven't collected. The Outstanding breakdown tells you which items to chase first.
Why Coverage matters more than Earned alone
A high Earned number with a low Coverage means you're billing faster than you're collecting in the same period — your work is going out, but the cash isn't catching up. Coverage forces you to look at both sides at once.
A low Coverage isn't always bad. If you've just invoiced a big quarterly retainer that hasn't been paid yet, Coverage temporarily drops because the denominator grew without the numerator catching up. The KPI is most useful as a trend — month over month, is it stable, climbing, or falling?
Acting on a falling Coverage
When Coverage slips:
- Open Outstanding. Look at the biggest items first.
- Send reminders on Overdue. The bucket's row has a Share reminder action with a pre-written message.
- Convert anything still sitting as Accepted, not invoiced. That's easy money you've already won — just not invoiced yet. (Accepted-but-not-yet-invoiced quotes do not affect Coverage until they become issued invoices.)
- Mark Draft invoices sent if you've actually sent them but forgot to flip the status. Drafts are excluded from the Invoiced denominator until you send them.
- Stop sending more invoices until you've collected on the existing ones, if Coverage is below 50% for more than a month.
Period and multi-currency notes
- The period filter at the top of the Money tab (
This month/This year/All time) affects both the numerator and the denominator. Switching fromThis monthtoThis yearwill expand the Invoiced figure as well as the Earned figure — Coverage can move in unexpected directions when you change period. - Coverage is computed in your primary currency only — the currency you've billed most in. If you bill across multiple currencies, the per-currency breakdown sheet (opened from the Earned or Outstanding card) shows Earned and Outstanding per currency, but it does not show a separate Coverage figure per currency. The Coverage card always reports a single number in your primary currency.
- Your primary currency is auto-detected from your data, not user-set. If you start billing a new currency more than your old one, the Coverage card will silently switch to the new currency.
Troubleshooting
- Coverage shows "—" (em-dash). You haven't issued any invoices in the selected period yet. The card needs invoices in the denominator to compute the ratio.
- Coverage is 100% but Outstanding isn't zero. The Outstanding section can include accepted-not-yet-invoiced quotes and overdue invoices from earlier periods that are outside the current period filter. Switch to All time if you want a wider view.
- Coverage looks worse than it should. Check whether you've marked recent payments. The KPI is computed from recorded payments only.
- Big drop after switching to All time. Old uncollected invoices stay in the calculation until they're paid or cancelled. If you have ancient drafts or expired quotes that aren't relevant any more, mark them Cancelled or delete them.
- Coverage card has no tap action. The Coverage card is read-only; tapping it does nothing. Tap the Earned or Outstanding card for the per-currency breakdown sheet.
