If you've already subscribed and the app is showing the paywall — typically after a fresh install, an iPhone migration, or signing out and back in — Restore purchases tells Apple to re-confirm your subscription. It takes about a second.
Goal: by the end of this you'll know where the Restore purchases button lives and what to do if it doesn't work.
When you need to restore
- You re-installed the app and were prompted to subscribe again.
- You moved to a new iPhone or iPad.
- You signed out and back into the app.
- You signed in with a different Apple ID, then signed back into the original one.
If you have an active FreelancerFlow subscription on the Apple ID currently signed into the iPhone, Restore purchases will find it and re-enable your features.
Two places to find the button
From the paywall
When the paywall is showing, look at the top of the screen. The Restore button sits next to the back arrow. Tap it.
From Settings
You can also restore without the paywall:
- Open the gear icon in the dashboard's top right.
- Scroll to Subscription and tap it.
- Tap Restore purchases at the bottom of the screen.
Both surfaces do exactly the same thing.
What happens behind the scenes
Tapping Restore asks the App Store to look up the active subscriptions for the Apple ID currently signed in. If one is found that matches FreelancerFlow, your Pro features are re-enabled within a second or two. If no active subscription exists for this Apple ID, nothing changes and the paywall stays.
Apple ID matters
Restore works against the Apple ID currently signed into the iPhone's App Store — not necessarily the FreelancerFlow account you signed into the app with. If you bought the subscription on a different Apple ID, the iPhone has to be signed in with that Apple ID for the restore to find it.
To check: open iOS Settings → tap your name at the top. That's the Apple ID. To switch, sign out at the top of iOS Settings and sign back in with the correct one — Apple-wide, not FreelancerFlow-specific.
Troubleshooting
- Restore tap does nothing. No active subscription was found on this Apple ID. Either the subscription is on a different Apple ID, or it has expired.
- "You can't restore — you don't have any active subscriptions." Apple's wording for the same situation as above.
- Restore succeeds but features stay locked. Usually a sync delay. Wait 30 seconds and pull-to-refresh. If still locked, sign out of FreelancerFlow and sign back in — that forces a re-fetch from the cloud.
- Free trial wasn't restored. Trials are tied to the original purchase and are non-transferable. If the trial was used on a different Apple ID, you can't re-trial — restoring will move you straight to the paid Pro plan.
